A beautiful Le Manoir Du Bout Du Pont Wedding in Agnac

So I’m going to attempt to blog more on this shiny new website… last year, I had the pleasure of documenting Aisling & Ciaran’s gorgeous South of France wedding at Le Manoir Du Bout Du Pont near Agnac in the Dordogne region. Here is a little bit about what happened in my travels.

After a short flight I land to the alway tranquil Bergerac airport, it seems even the lady in the rental car company appears to recognises me, travelling to the Dordogne is starting to feel like jumping on a bus to a familiar place, and I’m ok with that. I always love the first drive down to travelling somewhere new, the exciting expectations of what’s to come and the pleasure of giving your eyes something fresh to see.

As I drive through the southern French countryside I begin to smile, I love the charisma of the small quaint French villages where things seem to move at a different pace, the rustic buildings painted in an array of pastels tones that they could fit quite nicely in a Wes Anderson film…

Aisling & Ciaran both live in the UK but are from Ireland but love all things French, so it felt like a fitting place to celebrate their union with good wine, tasty food and plenty of sunshine. Le Manoir Du Bout Du Point is a beautiful example of a French country house. It has such a relaxing character with classic looks that make it different to anything I had done before in France, it feels like a home from home instantly and a perfect choice for the couple’s celebrations.

I loved the ceremony because rather than a formal church or registrar the couple opted for a humanist wedding officiated by both of Aisling’s brothers. How amazing to have two of your siblings help join you as husband and wife! The ceremony was held next to a 16th-century pigeonnier which worked as a perfect focal point; I particularly loved that a lot of the couple’s family and friends got very much involved during the service, from giving readings, playing music and even singing. Everyone got to learn more about the couple and be entertained under the sweltering summer sun.

As the newlyweds led the guests down on the lawn for the drinks reception, I took the bride & groom for some pictures next to the main house. These are some of my favourite photographs – both Aisling and Ciaran fitted the setting perfectly, especially with the French flag waving in the background of the images, the francophile in me smiling happily.

If you are having a South of France wedding then a wedding planner can be a lifesaver, luckily for Aisling & Ciaran, they decided on getting Marry Me in France involved helping run the day. I’ve had a few weddings with them now, and they always go out there a way to make it run as smoothly as possible and always with a smile so if you’re thinking of a destination wedding in France then definitely check them out.

After the drinks reception, all the guests made their way into the barn and gave an almighty roar to welcome the newlyweds so the wedding feast could begin. Ahh, French cuisine….probably one of my favourite things about doing weddings in France… you get to sample all the tasty food!

Once all the guests were well fed and starting to recover from the intense summer sun, it was time for the speeches to begin. I always love wedding speeches and it’s lovely when the bride gets up; Aisling & Ciaran decided on doing a joint one, by the end I don’t think there was a dry eye in the house.

I had scouted out a location for some evening portraits a few minutes away from the venue near the village of La Sauvetat du Dropt. I was nervously wondering if we would get the beautiful evening light for some photographs… I shouldn’t have been nervous, it was magnificent! Just the perfect light for the couple to get close. As we all returned to the barn it was time for the evening’s entertainment, the couple flew some friends over who are in a band called the ‘Vanderbilt’ up in Newcastle, and they certainly helped everyone finish this glorious wedding in style.

“I loved every minute, getting ready with my bridesmaids and family in the morning, the ceremony was particularly special, seeing our family and friends enjoying themselves… I think the huge smile in every photograph says it all, it was the best day” Aisling.

I hope you enjoy Aisling & Ciaran’s beautiful South of France wedding at Le Manoir Du Bout Du Point as much as me. Click here to see more destination wedding photography.
