Award-winning Dorset Wedding photography

Elegantly combining vibrant storytelling with a contemporary editorial photography style.

Hello, my name is Richard Skins and I'm a Dorset wedding photographer based in Bournemouth covering destination weddings throughout the UK and Europe. If I turn the clock back ten years, this is something I never thought I would be doing, but I'm glad life has taken me in this direction as I believe it's the best job in the world, well for me anyway. I feel fortunate to have a career which allows me to pursue my love of photography, and use it to capture one of the happiest days two people can share!

You're probably in the middle of planning your wedding, or you simply enjoy photography, either way, I'm happy you have made it on my site today. Below you'll find some of my favourite weddings that I've had the pleasure of photographing, and I'm sure there is something you will love. If you're getting married, then please get in touch, as it would be great to hear all about you and what you have planned for the day.

“I want to capture the day as it was with all the laughter, love and everything in-between”

With so many types of photography out there, you might be slightly confused about what is right for you. My idea of wedding photography is not your usual looking straight at the camera formal style that you may have come across during your search. I whole heartily believe documentary wedding photography is the perfect style to show how you both felt during the wedding. My number one goal is to bring out all that energy & life from the day; with an entire collection of photographs that help will you relive it for years to come.

Why Dorset?

If it’s more a barn wedding you’re after then, you’ll love Gorwell Farm, a beautifully converted barn nestled in a secluded valley so you can party the night away without disturbing anyone! Or if you’re after a more grander wedding, then either Kingston Maurward or St Giles House would be a great choice as they’re both stunning examples of period houses.

After a more festival style wedding? Then Larmer Tree or Wilkswood near Swanage would be perfect for pitching up the tents and party hard into the night! Finally travelling to the east of the county there are lots of options from a Bournemouth beach wedding to a relaxed wedding at Sopley Mill a disused watermill by the river Avon.

I would have probably never have decided on living in Dorset before I eventually got pers귭. It’s definitely funny how life brings new opportunities, I can now very much say Dorset is very much now my home. I do find a sense of peace and a feeling of home in Bournemouth and the surrounding countryside.

Being a Dorset wedding photographer I've been lucky to document some incredible weddings, they’re some fantastic venues for every type of wedding! On the west side of the county, you’ll find Pennsylvania Castle on the Isle of Portland a stunning Gothic mansion with sea views. Travelling further east down the coast, you’ll find the splendid Lulworth Castle a short distance from two of the most beautiful views in Dorset, Lulworth Cove & Durdledoor (google and you’ll see what I mean!)
